Find your next family pet at the Library! New Canaan Library is pleased to host a special pet adoption day by PAWS, our local animal welfare association. The event will take place on Saturday, September 16 from 2 – 4 p.m. in the Curtis Gallery.
PAWS will bring a variety of their adoptable pets for visitors to meet. Adoption counselors from PAWS will also be available to help visitors search online for all the pets PAWS cares for, and to explain the adoption process and how to complete online applications.
PAWS is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that began in 1962 by Westport, Connecticut resident Betty Long to rescue homeless dogs and place them in permanent homes. In the early 1980s, rescue efforts were expanded to include cats. For 37 years, PAWS rented space from local boarding kennels & veterinary hospitals. As demands increased, PAWS, In 1999 undertook the task of building a shelter of its own, greatly increasing the number of pets they have been able to help. As a registered non-profit, all contributions to PAWS are fully tax-deductible as allowed by law.
