New Canaan Library announces the opening of Torrance York: Semaphore; A Journey through Parkinson’s, an exploration of the artist’s creative journey after a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease (PD) nine years ago. The exhibition opens on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, in the Lightburn Gallery, with a reception and gallery talk with Ms. York and the curator from 5:30 – 7:00 pm. New Canaan Library presents the first musical movie in May: TOP HAT, the quintessential Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers film. Fred Astaire stars as a tap dancer and Ginger Rogers as his beautiful neighbor. They dance, and romance from London to Venice in this tip-top musical full of classic Irving Berlin tunes. This was Astaire and Rogers' fourth of 10 screen pairings and was nominated for the Best Picture Oscar. Runtime 100 minutes.
