Glass House Presents at New Canaan Library Features Talk by Hilary Lewis on Furniture and the Bauhaus

The collaborative series “Glass House Presents at New Canaan Library” is pleased to offer the talk “Furniture and the Bauhaus,” presented by Hilary Lewis, co-author of Philip Johnson: The Architect in His Own Words and The Architecture of Philip Johnson. The event will be held in the Library’s Adrian Lamb Room on Tuesday, November 5 at 6:30 p.m., preceded by a light reception at 6 p.m. Please register online at newcanaanlibrary.org.

Hilary Lewis will speak about the Glass House’s extraordinary collection of Bauhaus-era furniture, and the connection between Philip Johnson and the early developments of European modernism. Lewis is co-author of Philip Johnson: The Architect in His Own Words and The Architecture of Philip Johnson. She worked directly with the architect during the last decade of his life. She received her training in architectural history and urban planning at MIT and Harvard, where she also taught. Overall, her work addresses the public aspects of architecture, preservation, and design.
