Four-townhouse development planned for 116 South Ave. Specs by Steven Lecher Associates, LLC

The New Canaan Building Department between April 9 and 16 received applications to build four townhouses on South Avenue.

Among the four townhouses planned for 116 South Ave., three will include four bedrooms and one will have three bedrooms, according to building permit applications. They each will include three full bathrooms (the four-bedroom units will additionally have a half-bath), a finished basement, fireplace and two-car garage—3,000 square feet of living space, according to building permit applications. One of the four-bedroom dwellings will be freestanding, according to the application.

They’ll each cost $650,000 to build, the applications said.

The contractor on the job is Sillo Construction LLC, they said, and the architect Steven Lecher Associates LLC, both of New Canaan.

The .57-acre property was purchased last September for $2,530,000, tax records show. The owner is a limited liability company whose principal resides in New Canaan, according to Connecticut Secretary of the State records.

The town in January issued a permit to demolish a rear structure on the property. They also have applied for a permit to demolish the front building, records show.

  1. Is this even legal to build on .54 acres. I can only hope this is turn down by P& Z. It’s always about money, not what’s right for this town or the property.

  2. I have lived on South Avenue for 28 years and have watched the ‘charm’ disappear a little more every year. So complaints along these lines do not resonate with me. I see no problem with clearing a non-resident building of little charm and replacing with residences for 4 new families.
