Katsura Sunshine Brings Japanese Rakugo Comedy to Connecticut

March 17 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Katsura Sunshine is coming to Connecticut! The Japan Society of Fairfield County will present the Rakugo performance of Katsura Sunshine at Saxe Middle School, 468 South Avenue, New Canaan, CT on March 17 at 3PM. Rakugo is the 400-year-old Japanese traditional art of comic storytelling. The performance will be in English. Online ticket prices start at $10 for students, $30 for adults.

Katsura Sunshine was born in Toronto Canada and holds Slovenian citizenship as well as Canadian. Sunshine was the first ever Western Rakugo-ka in the Kamigata tradition.

Sunshine has toured over 5 continents performing in 3 languages (Japanese, English and French). Rakugo features a lone storyteller dressed in kimono, kneeling on a cushion, using only a fan and a hand towel for props, while entertaining the audience with a comic monologue.

He gained international fame for his show on NHK Worldwide; he is hilarious, charming, and universally funny. Sunshine is the perfect performer to bridge the East and the West gap through laughter.
