A former detective in real life who, in his acting career, has also performed on Law and Order will be the guest speaker at the New Canaan Men’s Club meeting Friday, Dec. 16, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge.
Charles Grady comes from a family of law enforcement officers as the son of an assistant chief of police in New Haven and the nephew of five uncles all police officers. He began his career as an officer in Hamden, later becoming a detective and state and federal investigator, including with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The club’s meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in Morrill Hall with Grady expected to begin his remarks around 10:40 a.m.
While with the FBI, Grady transitioned into an acting career, appearing off-Broadway, in films and television. Along with Law and Order, he also appeared in All My Children.
Currently, Grady is the founder and CEO of Hang Time, a weekly two-hour session that brings together ex-offenders with legal and community leaders for meals and free-flowing group discussions covering a range of issues, such as politics, race relations, economics, cultural diversity and the history of music to ways to conduct oneself during an encounter with police.
