Long-time news producer David Fitzpatrick will describe his experiences at CBS and CNN covering some of the most memorable events of the past 50 years in remarks to the New Canaan Men’s Club Friday, April 14, during its meeting at Morrill Hall in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
Fitzpatrick has won three Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award and a Sigma Delta Chi Award from the Society of Professional Journalists for his work as a producer at the two news networks, which also included three years at CBS’s 60 Minutes, where he worked with Morley Safer.
The Men’s Club meeting will begin at 10 a.m. with Fitzpatrick beginning his remarks around 10:40 a.m.
During his tenure at the news outlets, Fitzpatrick was a producer covering the Tehran hostage crisis in 1979-1980; the fall of the Berlin Wall; the Beijing uprising; Hurricane Katrina, the category 5 hurricane devastating New Orleans; and the 2014 disappearance of Malaysia Flight 370.
