New Canaan High School SLOBs Recruitment Begins
Tuesday, September, 15, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The Service League of Boys (SLOBs), a parent-son community service organization at New Canaan High School, will be holding its annual New Membership Orientation Meeting on Tuesday, September 15, at 7PM in the high school cafeteria.
SLOBs is open to any freshman, sophomore or junior boy attending the high school; a parent must also join along with his or her son. The club fosters the parent-son relationship in a philanthropic organization committed to community service and leadership development. SLOBs currently has 245 boys enrolled and is the largest and most popular club at New Canaan High School.
Club members have served over 26,000 hours since the organization’s inception in 2004, in a wide variety of projects in New Canaan and surrounding communities. Some of the organizations in which the boys volunteer their time include the New Canaan Food Pantry, New Canaan Inn, Filling in the Blanks, YMCA’s Sports Buddies and the New Canaan Library. They also help the Exchange Club with Christmas Tree sales, the New Canaan Nature Center at the Fall Fair and the annual St. Mark’s May Fair.
The first SLOBs General Meeting will be held on Saturday, September 19, at 2PM, also in the high school cafeteria.
