New Canaan Library and Staying Put’s Necessary Conversations Series Presents Smart Move? Considering the Pros and Cons of Parents Moving Closer

Wednesday, February, 7, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

– New Canaan Library and Staying Put in New Canaan present the last discussion in Necessary Conversations, a collaborative effort that addresses issues related to adult children and their aging parents. The talk Smart Move?: Considering the Pros and Cons of Parents Moving Closer will be presented on Wednesday, February 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Library’s Adrian Lamb Room. Please register online at newcanaanlibrary.org.
When parents move closer to their adult children it can be a positive move – but it’s not without its downsides. The panel will look at both the pros and cons, considering whether the physical proximity and feeling safe and cared for balances the loss of friends, familiarity and independence. The panel will be moderated by Kathy Collins, Director of Member Resources, Staying Put in New Canaan, and will include Judy Johnson, a parent who moved closer to her family, Sheila Rosenthal, a parent who chose to stay in her community and Carol Hollyday of William Sotheby’s Realty, an expert in downsizing and decluttering options.
