Our Town Government: How It Works, How to Get Involved

Wednesday, March, 28, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Free

New Canaan has tough decisions to make every day, decisions that affect our schools and neighbors, property values and downtown. While the results of local political decisions are often immediate, our elected and appointed public servants work within a framework that few of us fully understand.

Join us for a clear, concise presentation that breaks down how things get done in New Canaan and how we can be involved in the decision making. Attend a daytime or evening session to learn about:

Town government’s elected and appointed boards and commissions
How ideas and projects are brought to fruition
Procedures for getting involved.

There will be generous time allotted for questions from the audience within the hour-long presentation. Additionally, members of diverse boards and commissions will be available before and after the program to informally chat about what they do.

This program is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of New Canaan, a nonpartisan political organization that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government. It is open to the public and free of charge.
