Solo Transatlantic Sailor to Speak at Men’s Club

Friday, May, 5, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

This past summer David Tunick sailed solo from Spain to Stamford on his 55’ yawl, Night Watch. He will share details of his high seas adventures this Friday at the New Canaan Men’s Club meeting in Morrill Hall, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. with Tunick’s presentation beginning around 10:40 a.m., following the club’s business meeting.

Tunick, an art dealer with a NY gallery, had quite a trip. What was supposed to take four weeks lasted eight. His first night at sea the boat’s steering jammed, and, for the next two days, he was blown off course by an unforecast gale. Later, he was almost shipwrecked twice in the Azores. With slides and stories Tunick will share his harrowing solo journey across the Atlantic.

A resident of Stamford, Tunick is a graduate of St. Luke’s in New Canaan and Williams College. His professional speciality is works of art on paper from Pre-Renaissance to mid-20th Century, from Dürer and Rembrandt to Munch, Picasso and Matisse.

The New Canaan Men’s Club has openings for new members, men 55-years old and above. For information, email ncmens@ncmens.club.
