New Canaan Police are investigating smash-and-grab thefts from Waveny (reported at 5:57 p.m. on April 22) and Mead Park (5:59 p.m. on April 22). In each case, a purse with a wallet was stolen through the smashed window. Police have no suspects.

The Inn, Waveny’s independent living community, welcomed students from East Elementary School for an afternoon visit that included planting flowers, making bird feeders and reading with our residents. “What a joy to see the young and the young at heart,” Katarina Tchakarov, executive director of The Inn, said in a press release. “Thank you to the students for spending time with us.”

Police at 11:16 a.m. on April 26 received a report of juveniles stealing bikes from the train station downtown. The bikes were recovered. It’s unclear if the juveniles were cited or charged; police withheld information because of their ages.

Kim Healy, a selectwoman from Wilton, this week officially announced her candidacy for State Representative in the 42nd legislative district. “With a great deal of enthusiasm and a commitment to public service, Healy brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the race,” a press release said. The 42nd includes Wilton and parts of New Canaan and Ridgefield.
