Police at 10:28 a.m. on Oct. 31 arrested a 22-year-old New York City man by warrant and charged him with criminal impersonation, fourth-degree larceny, sixth-degree larceny, fourth-degree telephone fraud and sixth-degree telephone fraud.

The man turned himself in on an active warrant that had been issued following an identity theft investigation that police launched after receiving a complaint in December 2023, officials said.

Under state law, a person is guilty of criminal impersonation if he or she “Impersonates another and does an act in such assumed character with intent to obtain a benefit or to injure or defraud another,” among other reasons.

The man was released on $25,000 bond and scheduled to appear Nov. 12 in state Superior Court.
