On Sept. 11, 2016 the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan welcomes all to its 10 a.m. worship service and “Coming Home Sunday” festivities. The Rev. Paul E. Gilmore will deliver the sermon, the Adult Choir will sing, and Sunday’s Cool for children in grades K-7 resumes. Following the service, all are invited outside for a picnic. Two phenomenal musicians, Edward Moore (organ) and Nathan Carterette (piano) join forces to play Rachmaninoff, Franck, the first movement from Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto and Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” arranged for piano and organ. Come experience the original “Phantom of the Opera” silent movie with live improvised accompaniment. Organist Jackson Borges will be playing the organ live to accompany the original 1925 silent film Phantom of the Opera, just as it was done in 1925!
