Police on Friday night arrested a 19-year-old New Canaan man by warrant following a complaint that he had violated the terms of a protective order.

At about 1:35 p.m. on April 21, officers received a complaint that the teen had violated restrictions that include not contacting the victim in person, in writing, by electronic communications or phone, according to a police report.

The victim told police that the teen had contacted him or her multiple times, including in person, the report said.

Police obtained a warrant, traveled to the teen’s Hillcrest Road home and arrested him in the Norwalk Hospital emergency room, it said.

He was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree harassment, third-degree assault and second-degree unlawful restraint.

It isn’t clear why the teen was in the emergency room at the time of his arrest, or whether or how he is related to the victim. Police withheld further information, classifying the incident as a domestic matter.

The teen was held on $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear Monday in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
