Police on April 21 arrested a 30-year-old New Canaan man after he threatened to slash his ex-girlfriend’s tires, beat up her brother and set her house on fire if she didn’t pay back money he owed, and then showed up at her home with a knife.

The complainant, a 31-year-old Millport Avenue woman, told police at about 9:14 p.m. on April 21 that earlier in the day, her ex had phoned and said she owed him money, according to a police report.

The woman said she was at work just then and would talk to him about it later as long as he was calm, the report said.

The ex-boyfriend responded that he just needed the money and that if he didn’t get it, he’d slash her tires and her mother’s tires, set her house on fire and beat up her brother, the report said.

When she got home at about 6:30 p.m., the ex was waiting in the parking lot with a knife in his hand, and again threatened to slash her tires, the report said.

A female witness was present, the report said.

Ultimately he left without doing anything, and police obtained a warrant and arrested him at his home, the report said.

Police charged the ex-boyfriend with second-degree threatening and disorderly conduct. He was held on $25,000 bond and scheduled to appear April 22 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
