New Canaan Teen Arrested for DUI, Forgery

Police arrested a 19-year-old New Canaan man at 12:13 a.m. Monday and charged him with driving under the influence, possession of alcohol by a minor and second-degree forgery.

The teen failed field sobriety tests after police stopped him on Weed Street near Frogtown Road for failing to dim his high beams and drifting over the double yellow lines on Park Street.

According to a police report, the teen drifted over the double yellow lines after turning onto Richmond Hill Road. After stopping the car on Weed Street, an officer approaching the vehicle smelled alcohol.

In the car, police found two fake IDs, both Connecticut, and 12 unopened cans of beer, according to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc of the New Canaan Police Department. Police cited the motorist for failure to drive right.

The teen, a North Parish Road resident, was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear Aug. 29 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
