[NewCanaanite.com will update this page throughout the day with voter turnout.]
In an election that’s seen a high number of early voters, New Canaan constituents on Nov. 5 will vote for candidates seeking offices including U.S. president, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, state Senate and state House.
In all, the town saw 5,371 ballots cast before Nov. 3 in the first year that early voting was made available in the state, according to the Registrars of Voters. There are 14,534 total eligible voters in the town.
The town also has issued an additional 1,446 absentee ballots, of which 1,211 had been returned by Monday morning, according to Town Clerk Claudia Weber. That figure is down by about 500 from the 2020 national election, held during pandemic, Weber said. Yet Town Hall saw some 300 to 500 people voting early every day it was available, “and you know a lot of those people normally would have voted by absentee [ballot],” Weber told NewCanaanite.com.
