Police arrested a 58-year-old New Canaan man after midnight Wednesday on a drunk driving charge.
At about 1 a.m. on March 30, officers were dispatched to the area of 200 Mill Road on a report of a motor vehicle accident, according to a police report.
There, they found a vehicle that had traveled off of the road and struck a large rock, the report said.
Officers spoke to the driver, a Mill Road man, and detected alcohol on his breath, it said.
The man failed field sobriety tests and a subsequent blood-alcohol test showed him to be nearly three times the legal limit, the report said.
Police charged the man with driving under the influence and failure to drive right.
He was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear April 13 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
