The town last week received an application to build a 4,500-square-foot home on a .28-acre Gower Road lot where a house nearly one-third that size had stood.
The house planned for 52 Gower Road will cost an estimated $960,000 to construct, according to a building permit application filed May 19.
It will include four bedrooms and a 2-car garage, it said.
The property sold in September for $850,000 and the ranch-style house that had stood there came down in February, tax records show.
The contractor on the construction job is New Canaan-based Mosolino Development LLC, architect is Michael Smith AIA of Norwalk.

A Charles Place property owner on May 6 filed an application to build a new 2,700-square-foot home on .18-acre Charles Street lot.
The property at 7 Charles Place received approval in 2007 to build a new 2-unit home after the house that had stood there came down the prior year, tax records show.
The new dwelling will cost about $450,000, according to the application. The contractor on the job is the owner and John James Architect of Westport also is on the job, it said.
