Police on Saturday night arrested a 28-year-old Stamford man and charged him with driving under the influence.
At about 10:24 p.m. on Feb. 27, an officer on patrol saw the man stopped in his motor vehicle at the flashing red traffic signal at Elm and Park Streets, according to a police report.
Though there was no oncoming traffic, the man failed to drive his vehicle, and multiple cars behind him were honking their horns, the report said.
The officer spoke to the man and detected signs of impairment, it said. He provided a sample to establish his blood-alcohol level, which came in at .193, police said. That’s about 2.5 times the legal limit of .08.
Police released the man on $250 bond and scheduled him to appear March 25 in state Superior Court.
