The 2 p.m. Saturday show of “Ordinary People” from the Town Players of New Canaan at the Powerhouse Theatre in Waveny is free to teens. The theater company at a Feb. 25 benefit centered on the production raised $18,000 to support the New Canaan Urgent Assessment program, a partnership between Silver Hill Hospital and the town. The New Canaan Preservation Alliance—which Connecticut Judicial Branch records show has four active lawsuits against the town and New Canaan Library—on Feb. 8 presented the the town with a $4,000 bill from the Public Archaeological Laboratory, or “PAL,” according to correspondence obtained by NewCanaanite.com through a Freedom of Information Act request. PAL has “completed the draft of the Church Hill Historic District and our preservation team is almost completed with its review,” NCPA President Neele-Banks Stichnoth told First Selectman Kevin Moynihan in an email. The organization is seeking to create an expanded Historic District in New Canaan. According to the emails, PAL is preparing a “National Register nomination” for the expanded district, and the invoice is for its “fieldwork and background research.”

New Canaan’s Mike Benevento
Congratulations to New Canaan’s Mike Benevento on joining Westport-based CastleKeep Investment Advisors LLC as partner. A father of four who serves as founding member and chair of the New Canaan Athletic Foundation, Benevento joins fellow town resident Steve Haberstroh, a Parks & Recreation Commission member, at CastleKeep. Benevento, who began his career on Wall Street in 1996 and worked most recently as a portfolio manager at Millennium Management, a global alternative investment platform with over $58 billion in assets, is a frequent guest lecturer at the Freeman College of Management at Bucknell University and the Notre Dame Institute for Global Investing. He has also been an adjunct professor at Columbia Business School and is the founder and former chairman of the Bucknell Finance Network and a member emeritus of the Athletics Board of Directors at Bucknell.
