  1. Mr. C was a great teacher and coach. A genuinely kind man who was great with kids and made learning fun. Sincere condolences to his family.

  2. Mr. Campbell was the best teacher I ever had. He had a way of connecting with students that was remarkable. In your life, a few people make a profound impact and Mr. Campbell did that for me as I’m sure he did it for countless others. He ran an after school softball intramural and I can still hear him yelling “hey softball” in the halls trying to recruit kids to come play. He also paid me in the form a Duchess blueberry muffin to run the chains at freshman football games when I was a 7th grader. So many incredible memories of him.

    • Scott I remember those after-school softball games, and how when he was pitching Mr. Campbell would always try that trick where he’d pretend to have caught the ball from an infielder in hopes that a runner would wander off base and get tagged out. My other strong memories are from his social studies class in 8th grade, especially this one segment that involved a map of Connecticut with all the town names and where we had match those names to a clue on a separate sheet (the town of Vernon was tied to a clue about Mickey Vernon the baseball player). It was easily one of my favorite classes at Saxe, and a warm memory from that time.

  3. Mr. Campbell was a great man and teacher! I can remember very clearly having he and Mr. Chard in 7A in the mid-90s. The slicked back hair ala Pat Riley, the Elvis impersonations and endless antics… never a dull moment walking the halls of Saxe when he was around. RIP
