The district issued a bulletin that New Canaan Public Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay Wednesday, here are start times:

New Canaan’s highest elected official reported that one private plow operator went off of the road out toward Lost District, and otherwise no difficulties. The town emergency services and public works teams were “ready for anything,” First Selectman Rob Mallozzi said. There were 20 people at the New Canaan Fire Department overnight, including 13 volunteers, he said.
“Very pleased we over-prepared,” Mallozzi said.
Gov. Dannel Malloy lifted the travel ban for western Connecticut. Merritt Parkway and Interstate 95 remain closed.

Less than one foot of powdery snow appears to have accumulated overnight in New Canaan. The forecast Tuesday calls for up to four more inches of snow, the National Weather Service says.

Officials say the Y will be closed Tuesday: “In the event of power outages following the upcoming storm, the Y will open to the community as soon as possible for post-storm support, including heat, hot showers, power, and will work with the town to determine if any additional resources are needed.”
The National Weather Service is calling for up to 16 inches of snow overnight and then another foot of snow on Tuesday.

First Selectman Rob Mallozzi has declared a state of emergency in New Canaan.
From the New Canaan Office of Emergency Management: “The current weather models call for total snow accumulations of 20 – 30 inches and sustained winds of 25 – 35 mph with gust up to 55 mph. The Town’s Emergency Operations Center is operational. Please use (203) 594-4100 to report non-emergencies and reserve 911 for true life-threatening emergencies. All power outages must be called in to CL&P at (800) 286-2000. Please visit the Town website to view important links or visit us on Facebook. On behalf of your Town’s public safety personnel, thank you for your cooperation. While we are prepared for a major event, we hope this is nothing more than a serious inconvenience.”

From the New Canaan YMCA: “The Y has been working with the town and has ordered a generator so that it can once again serve as a resource for the community in the event of power outages following the upcoming storm. New Canaan Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, officials said, as a “crippling and potentially historic blizzard” bears down on the town and region.
First Selectman Rob Mallozzi is expected to declare a state of emergency for the town at 7 p.m. Monday, according to a Blizzard Juno bulletin from the New Canaan Office of Emergency Management.
“In anticipation of this declaration, please move all cars off of the roadways immediately,” the OEM said. “Cars will be towed if they are parked on the streets after 8 p.m. [Monday] evening. All municipal parking lots will be open free fo charge at this time.”
The National Weather Service is calling for up to two feet of snow in New Canaan, where flurries began picking up around 10 a.m.
“It’s important to stay off of the roads, especially later today,” said Jim Cole, deputy director of the New Canaan Office of Emergency Management. “If you have any neighbors at risk with the snow height and low temperatures, call Human Services [203-594-3076] and if there’s an emergency situation, where life or health are at risk, call 911.”
Up to three inches of snow will have accumulated by sundown Monday, the NWS says, with the heaviest snow picking up from about midnight and through Tuesday afternoon.
Officials are warning residents to stay off the roads and take emergency preparedness measures. Gov. Dannel Malloy declared a state of emergency for Connecticut and put into effect a travel ban starting at 9 p.m. Monday. Only emergency response and rescue vehicles are allowed. Public bus transit closes at 8 p.m.
