A 100-year-old, single-story ranch on Parade Hill Road is slated for demolition and its owner has applied to construct a new home there that will more than double its living space.
The red house at 119 Parade Hill Road—just past the turn as you come up the hill toward Oenoke Ridge—sits on .17 acres, according to tax records. It includes 625 square feet of living space (all in one room) among its approximately 1,450 total gross square feet. There’s an unfinished basement of the same dimensions.
Purchased seven years ago for $460,000, it last was assessed at $357,000, according to the New Canaan Assessor’s office.
An application filed by the homeowner with the town’s building department would see a new home with four bedrooms, three full baths and a half-bath, an attached 2-car garage and rear patio go in there. The gross square feet of the structure would come to 3,428 square feet the application says. The estimated cost of construction appears to be $400,000, though the application itself is blurry. Ridgefield-based CV Building Concepts Inc. is the contractor, according to the application.
