CVS on Park Street passed a New Canaan Health Department re-inspection after failing an initial inspection this summer.
The pharmacy and shop downtown had been cited during a July 13 inspection for a “risk factor” violation for having several items—yogurt, cheese, hummus and smoothie drinks—at the overly high temperature of 56 degrees, according to a copy of the local health sanitarian’s report.
In health inspections, food service establishments are graded on scores out of 100 that may be deducted for violations that range in severity from 1 to 4 points, with a four-point violation constituting a risk factor violation. Just one of those leads to a failed inspection, as does an overall score of less than 80 points.
CVS passed its re-inspection July 27 with a score of 96.
Two local restaurants that nearly failed inspections this summer were Hashi Sushi, which scored 80 points, and Ching’s Table, which scored 83 points.
