The Board of Selectmen at its March 5 meeting voted 3-0 in favor of hiring a New Canaan woman, Rachel Lampen, as the wedding coordinator at Waveny. She will be paid $32,500 in the part-time job, according to the Department of Human Resources.

Congratulations to the 12 New Canaan High School Choir students selected to perform for the 2024 American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Honors Choir in Providence, R.I. Chosen from a pool of more than 1,000 applicants, they sang at the end of February with renowned musicians from prestigious universities across the country. The NCHS choral director is Sarah Gleason. During the 4-day convention, the students sang with nationally renowned clinicians from Miami, Texas and Yale University and met multiple composers from the repertoire they were singing. New Canaan Health Director Jenn Eielson reported at the March 7 Health & Human Services Commission meeting that the 59 building permits the agency saw in February is the most in her 10 years in the job, up from an average of 30 to 35. Septic plans and septic work to review also has “skyrocketed,” Eielson said.
