Update 3:30 p.m. Thursday
Dash Murray has been found in the woods, muddy but OK, and safely returned home.
Original Story
The owners of a 12-year-old collie are asking for help after he went missing around 7:30 a.m. Thursday on Carriage Lane, behind West School.
Dash is very friendly and though he is wearing an invisible fence collar, there’s no ID on it, according to his owner, Chip Murray.
The dog did go missing once before in January but was located quickly near Frogtown Road, Murray said.
Dash is chipped and the New Canaan Police Department’s Animal Control section has been notified, he said.
Anyone who sees the dog is asked to phone the Murrays at 203-952-4428.

Michael–Three cheers for you and NewCanaanite.com! The Murray Family hugely appreciated your support in finding our beloved collie, Dash. You are a unique and wonderful asset to our community. You are a positive force that benefits all residents (both two and four-legged) . Thank you!
Great news. Not sure if they would attack a medium-sized dog, but I often hear coyotes in those woods and feared the worst.
I can see the Murray house from my back yard so I went out looking to see if he went South. I found numerous other prints but non Dash’s. My late dog, Moose, was known to follow his nose to Dash’s house after a good time following the deer. So happy that Dash has made his way back home!
Thank heavens Dash was found and is safe and sound.
