Congratulations to Arthur Jean Baptiste, a licensed practical nurse in Waveny’s Memory Care Community for the past three years, on earning an “Aging Services Award of Excellence” from LeadingAge Connecticut. He received it at LeadingAge Connecticut’s EXPO at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, and the citation is as follows: “Arthur goes above and beyond each and every day to deliver excellent resident care, safety and performance. In addition to being courageous and hyper-anticipatory in saving choking victims (residents) in three separate instances in the past year, there’s nothing he doesn’t do exceptionally well. Arthur’s energy and demeanor is always bright, resilient, and accessible, he is a natural born leader, and above all, is meticulously consistent in providing compassionate care to Wayeny’s residents. It’s simply an enormous privilege and our pleasure to work with Arthur, and we’re thrilled to have him on the Waveny team.”

The New Canaan Preservation Alliance announced May 31 that it’s withdrawing its lawsuit against the Planning & Zoning Commission related to the appointed body’s 2022 approval of the New Canaan Library’s plans for the 1913 building. “The Library has come a long way, and in the right direction, from its original proposal to raze the 1913 building entirely,” NCPA President Neele Stichnoth said in a statement. “While we are not entirely pleased with the ultimate outcome of this issue, we are gratified that, because of our efforts, a portion of the 1913 building still stands and occupies a place of prominence on the new Library Green. We are confident that the Library will develop a workable plan to functionally integrate the 1913 building into the Library’s overall campus.”

  1. A thought is to install a camera on each school bus that could capture the offending license plate. Then fine the owner a SIGNIFICANT amount. If there is a second offense, take away their license. This is happening too often, and tells you something about the person(s) that would do such a thing.

  2. Happy Diamond Anniversary Wishes to Bob and Sarah Seelert, with a big shout out of thanks for all you have done for New Canaan by founding the Waveny Park Conservancy as well as supporting open space and nature organizations in our Town.
