Police at 9:19 a.m. on Jan. 27 received a report of a loose dog found at Waveny. The dog is still in the NCPD Animal Shelter, located at the dump.

Congratulations to New Canaan’s Jaime Sneddon and The Sneddon Team of William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty on earning multiple awards for sales performance in 2024. “Jaime Sneddon of the Sneddon Team was honored as the No. 1 real estate agent among all agents company-wide based on closed dollar volume, and additionally received the Diamond Award, the company’s highest recognition,” a press release said. “Sneddon was also named the No. 1 agent with the firm’s New Canaan brokerage across several categories, including closed dollar volume, closed unit sales and rentals. The Sneddon Team, which is led by Jaime and Kendall Sneddon and also includes team members George Bakes and Aileen Mastey, received further notable recognitions. The National Charity League, Canaan Parish Chapter held its annual Mother-Daughter Tea Jan. 26 at Weeburn Country Club in Darien. It began with a fashion show modeled by the junior class, themed “NCL Embraces Sustainable Chic.” The juniors fashioned outfits that were hand selected and then donated to the New Canaan Thrift Shop, an affiliate of Waveny LifeCare Network. Stella Clarke, executive director of Waveny’s community engagement and volunteering, was in attendance and has been a longtime partner with NCL. Beneficiaries included the New Canaan Food Pantry, Tisdale Elementary School in Bridgeport, Schoolhouse Apartments, Person to Person, Waveny Care Center, New Canaan CARES and Filling in the Blanks. The event featured keynote speake Laura Katen of Katen Consulting, moderated by Lucy Dathan, NCL’s chapter cultural chair.

This 2025 Chevy Colorado truck from Karl Chevrolet is the grand prize for this year’s “Color Drop” fundraiser for the NCHS Scholarship Foundation, scheduled for March 22.

On Saturday, the grand prize for this year’s Color Drop—the March 22 fundraiser for the New Canaan High School Scholarship Foundation—a red 2025 Chevy Colorado truck, made its way from Karl Chevrolet to the Farm Road-South Avenue intersection, escorted by two fire trucks, police vehicles and EMS. All five New Canaan Public Schools mascots were on hand.

A bat reported inside an Apple Tree Lane home at 9:19 a.m. on Jan. 23 tested negative for rabies, according to Animal Control.

The New Canaan Board of Realtors on Jan. 22 convened at Town Hall for its annual “State of the Town” meeting, bringing together local leaders and real estate professionals. First Selectman Dionna Carlson provided a detailed update on the town’s current affairs, including insights into the ongoing affordable housing situation. Following the presentation, a panel discussion took place featuring representatives from the Health, Planning and Zoning, Engineering, and Building departments, offering valuable information and addressing key community concerns.

St. Luke’s Students demonstrate their adaptive devices to residents of The Inn.

Students in St. Luke’s School Engineering with Electronics class created adaptive devices for residents of The Inn, Waveny‘s independent living community. After a previous visit with residents, the students developed prototypes of their ideas, including a tool to “sweep” under the bed for dropped items, a closet device to lower items to an easier position to retrieve with the touch of a button, and a fall detection device with an audible alert that clips to a belt or pants
