Police after midnight Monday charged a 42-year-old New Canaan man with disorderly conduct.

At about 12:08 a.m. on Jan. 6, officers responded to a Fawn Lane residence on a reported dispute between the victim and the man, police said.

Through an investigation, authorities established probable cause for the misdemeanor charge. Police withheld details, saying it’s a domestic matter.

The man was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing.

Under state law, people are guilty of disorderly conduct if they “with intent to cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, or recklessly creating a risk … [e]ngages in … threatening behavior; or … annoys or interferes with another person,” among other reasons.

Police released the man on $500 bond and scheduled him to appear the same day in state Superior Court.
