Police last week arrested a 58-year-old Oakland, N.J. man by warrant and charged him with two counts of second-degree harassment.

He was taken into custody at about 12:05 p.m. on Sept. 8 on an active arrest warrant, according to a police report. A victim reported in May that the man violated a temporary restraining order, police said.

Under state law, a person is guilty of second-degree harassment if he or she “with intent to harass, terrorize or alarm another person, and for no legitimate purpose, such person … communicates or shares a photograph, video or words or engages in any other form of communication to a digital, electronic, online or other meeting space, in a manner likely to cause terror, intimidation or alarm,” among other reasons.

It’s unclear why the restraining order had been issued, how the man violated it or whether he’s related to the victim. Police withheld details, saying it’s a domestic matter.

The man was held on $30,000 bond and scheduled to appear Monday in state Superior Court.
