Take a look at how much water already is collecting in the dip on Ponus Ridge just above Greenley. The Public Works Department has a truck pushing the slush and snow aside as fast-traveling motorists come to a halt along this stretch up near the reservoir.

New Canaanites launching into February break will have plenty of wet stuff to negotiate Friday as temperatures exceed 40 degrees and Thursday’s two waves of snowfall melt down along with much of the snow from earlier in the week.

Downtown, saw horses are set up along some storm drains as mini-rivers travel down either side of Elm Street.

As most New Canaanites have heard by now, up to three inches of snow is expected to fall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
