Jean Grzelecki, 85, of New Canaan, CT, passed away on March 13, 2024, surrounded by members of her family. Jean was the wife of Frank Grzelecki, to whom she had been married for 64 years.

Jean was born on January 24, 1939, in Salem, New Jersey. She graduated from Gettysburg College in 1960.
After raising her daughters in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, Jean enjoyed a period of time in Princeton, NJ, where she was a member of the Present-Day Club. She then moved to New Canaan with her husband, where she was a member of the Planning & Zoning Commission. Jean was a well-respected member of the Commission for nearly three decades and in later years was elected Secretary. She was also a member of Daughters of the Revolution Hannah Benedict Carter Chapter.
Jean loved her family and is survived by her beloved husband Frank Grzelecki, daughter Sharon Smith (Kevin Smith) and predeceased by her daughter Deborah Grzelecki Rooney (Tom O’Connor). Jean is also survived by sister Dottie Hires Stetser as well as six cherished grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate Jean’s beautiful life is scheduled from 1:00PM to 3:00PM on Friday, March 22nd at Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan, followed by a repast at the Country Club of New Canaan.

My sincere condolences to the Grzelecki family on the passing of such a wonderful person. I am so sorry to read this news only 7 months after the loss of her daughter.
Over the years I attended many P+Z Commission meetings. Jean was very dedicated and professional. She certainly did her homework whenever she came to meetings. Truly a wonderful public servant who gave so much of her time to our town. Thank you, Jean.
Jean will be so greatly missed by all. Her ever loving kindness, her great wisdom and her deep love of family and friends. Jean, your legacy will live on and your beautiful spirit will always remain alive.
