Hi Michael—

I hope the Town will support the Town Players of New Canaan. TPNC is a New Canaan treasure — it’s all volunteers, producing quality, energetic and entertaining shows right here, for modest ticket prices, local dining opportunities, and a chance to get home at 10 pm. What could be better? Now the Town Players seeks to update the Powerhouse, the theater they use, to make it ADA compliant and more comfortable and welcoming, and to add the heretofore unused adjacent Shed to their campus for teaching theater to both kids and adults. Town Players needs Town approval for its plans, and it seeks $500,000 in support from the town budget and/or ARPA funds, to supplant the $500K Town Players will raise, already at $300K. I hope the Town will support the Town Players of New Canaan, and I encourage readers to communicate their desires to our Selectmen, Board of Finance, and Town Council.

Dear Editor,

The New Canaan Community Foundation is proud to host our Spirit of New Canaan Luncheon on April 28th at the Country Club of New Canaan. This special event is a chance to recognize community members who have made a significant impact to our town.

This year we honor Jim & Dede Bartlett, Barb Achenbaum, Monica Capela Chimera and Allyson Mahoney. Jim and Dede Bartlett’s contributions are immeasurable in all areas, most notably domestic violence and human services.  Barb Achenbaum, as Executive Director of Staying Put for 8 years, has been tirelessly dedicated to supporting seniors in New Canaan, and Monica Capela Chimera and Allyson Mahoney, co-founders of New Canaan Moms Community Collective, have been an inspiration in their efforts in family initiatives. All of our Spirit of New Canaan honorees have gone above and beyond to make New Canaan a better place to live for our residents and we are so proud to honor them.

Please consider joining us for this special community gathering where we will have the opportunity to show our gratitude to these outstanding members of our community. Tickets can be purchased by visiting newcanaancf.org.

We offer sincere thanks to our Luncheon Committee members, Corporate Sponsors and Early Benefactors, who have all contributed their unwavering support for this special event.

We hope to see you there!
