Anyone Can Compost: Approaches to Home Composting that Work for You

Thursday, June, 15, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

Presented by Master Gardener and composter Alice Ely, this program will explain how to save water, reduce pollution, and improve your landscape by turning garden waste and food scraps into “black gold” at home. Different approaches work for different people; from composting newbies to those who want to improve their composting skills, Alice Ely will have the answers. Information on how to use the New Canaan transfer station annual paid pass in one’s composting efforts will also be discussed.

This program is co-sponsored by the Library, Planet New Canaan, and the New Canaan Conservation Commission.
Alice Ely is a garden coach, the garden education chair at Wakeman Town Farm, one of the organizers of Westport’s Pollinator Pathway, a UConn Advanced Master Gardener, and a UConn Master Composter. She has also recently been named the Monarch Watch conservation specialist for the Northeast. Alice considers compost to be the “secret sauce” behind all her garden endeavors and looks forward to sharing her composting passion with attendees.
