Carlson To Report on Town Goals, Priorities at Friday Meeting
April 11 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
New Canaan First Selectman Dionna Carlson will update New Canaan Men’s Club members Friday on the town’s goals and priorities. The session will touch on a variety of topics, likely including issues related to improving cell service, addressing workforce housing and the just approved $181 million town budget.
Because of the wide interest in her remarks, the club is opening this session to member spouses.
The meeting in Morrill Hall at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge, will begin at 10 a.m. with Carlson making her presentation around 10:40 a.m.
Last week, the Town Council unanimously passed the town budget, representing a 4.36% increase over current spending. After considering a reduction of $300,000 in the school board’s proposal, the board settled on a cut of half that amount.
In her last letter to the public, Carlson noted the Board of Selectmen approved this year’s schedule for outdoor dining, which begins May 1 and will continue into early November.
Before becoming first selectman, Carlson served on the Board of Education for eight years, three as chair.
In her professional career, she held several positions in finance, including at GE Capital, where she was a Chartered Financial Analyst. She received her B.S. degree in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
The Men’s Club has openings for new members, men 55-years old and above. For information about membership, email ncmens@ncmens.info.
