Disney’s High School Musical Takes Saxe Stage for Two Shows!
Friday, April, 5, 2019 @ 7:00 pm
The annual Saxe Middle School seventh and eighth grade production this year will be Disney’s High School Musical. Performances will be Friday, April 5th at 7pm and Saturday, April 6th at 1pm in the school’s auditorium.
Disney’s High School Musical is fun for the whole family. Audiences won’t be able to sit still as they sing and dance to “Breaking Free,” “Stick to the Status Quo,” and “We’re All in This Together.”
Based on Disney Channel’s smash hit movie, Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of first love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities.
It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians, Gamers, Cheerleaders, Skater Dudes and Band Crew find their cliques, recount their vacations and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical that is being led by Ms. Darbus. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.
The play is under the direction and choreography of Lauren Nicole Sherwood, along with musical director Zachary Kampler, assistant musical director Joe Gergle, stage manager/assistant director/choreographer Matthew Blank, and orchestra director/conductor Janet Rosen.
Audiences will be transported to East High’s classrooms and locker rooms, cafeteria and gymnasium as the whole school comes together as winners thanks to Production Designer, Maggie Pennoyer.
Tickets may be purchased at http://www.saxeptc.org or in person one hour prior to each performance.
