Fairfield County Hospice House Flight of Life Event

Sunday, November, 13, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Fairfield County Hospice House (FCHH) will host its second annual Flight of Life Memorial Ceremony on Sunday, November 13th, 11am at the site of the new home, One Den Road in Stamford. The Ceremony will honor loved ones who have passed away and raise funds to support completion of the Hospice House through purchase of butterflies that will be assembled on a live Birch tree at the ceremony.

Fairfield County Hospice House is a six-bedroom home intended to serve as a home away from home for patients at the end of life who cannot remain in their own homes. This is the first residential house dedicated to Hospice in Connecticut and is expected to serve hundreds of families annually. All rooms are single occupancy with individual baths and private outdoor spaces overlooking beautiful landscaping. The house is expected to open in early 2017 and will serve all communities in lower Fairfield County.

“Some families are fortunate to be able to help a parent or other family member spend their final weeks at home,” says Richard Redniss, co-chair of the Fairfield County Hospice House Board of Directors. “But for financial or other reasons, that is not always an option. This house will support people and families at the end of life by providing a home-like setting for those who are unable to stay at home for whatever reason. The Flight of Life event is a way to bring people together to celebrate and remember loved ones while helping to support completion of the house.”
