Ky “Rocketman” Michaelson – Rebel, Dyslexic Space Explorer
Thursday, March, 30, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
FreeHow did a dyslexic 9th grade dropout become the Wright Brothers of civilian spaceflight?
As a child, Ky would lie in bed at night, look up at the glow-in-the-dark stars on his ceiling, and dream of being an astronaut. But on the first day of school those dreams came crashing down. Letters and numbers swam before his eyes. His teachers thought he was stupid: “Well, you’re no rocket scientist.”
Were they ever wrong!
Ky “Rocketman” Michaelson will tell his story of how he fought the government, gravity and dyslexia in his historic quest to become the first civilian to launch a rocket into space.
This evening is for…” the garage inventors, the science geeks, the daredevil on her dirt bike, the guy or girl who was called stupid – for anyone who’s ever looked at the stars and dreamed of space!”
Join us as we recognize and celebrate Ky “Rocketman” Michaelson with the first-annual EHSS “Soaring to New Heights” award for his outstanding achievements in the field of science and his dedication to breaking barriers in the learning differences community.
