Sunday, November, 17, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

Free

Matthew Croasmun, Associate Research Scholar and Director of the Life Worth Living Program, Yale Center for Faith and Culture, will be the guest speaker at the 9AM Fully Alive forum at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Sunday, November 17. He will speak on the topic of “Work” in the first of two sessions of Fully Alive. All are welcome to attend.

Matt Croasmun is an Associate Research Scholar and Director of the Life Worth Living Program at the Yale Center for Faith and Culture, and Lecturer of Divinity & Humanities at Yale University. He began working with YCFC after completing his PhD in Religious Studies (New Testament) at Yale in 2014. While a doctoral student, he and his wife, Hannah, planted and pastored the Elm City Vineyard Church, a dynamic, diverse, urban church in the heart of New Haven, CT. With a deep grounding in both the church and the academy, Matt brings to all of his work a passion for the intersection of the life of faith and the life of the mind. His main research interests lie in the Pauline Epistles, illuminated by various streams of contemporary philosophy of science, theological reflection, and critical theory. His first book, The Emergence of Sin, was published by Oxford University Press in 2017. Matt received his BA in Music from Yale College (MC ‘01) and an MAR in Bible from Yale Divinity School (‘06). Matt’s deepest passion is for teaching—in both the church and the academy. He has taught New Testament Introduction at Yale College, served regularly as a teaching fellow at YDS, and has taught the Life Worth Living seminar in the Humanities program at Yale College, supported by YCFC. He also designed and co-taught with world-renowned Founding Director of YCFC, Miroslav Volf, the Christ and the Good Life course at YDS.

Fully Alive will feature a host of compelling speakers throughout the year who will explore the difference Christ makes in particular aspects of our lives, including family, work, money, sex, play, and more. Fully Alive will include other offerings throughout the year, including regular weekday classes, retreats, a special course for high schoolers, quiet days, and concerts. The 9AM Fully Alive forum and the 10AM service can be live-streamed via the St. Mark’s website at www.stmarksnewcanaan.org. Recordings on demand are also available to watch on the website or the St. Mark’s YouTube channel.
