Men’s Club speaker links healthy lifestyle to longer life

In remarks aspirationally titled, “How to Live to be 110,” the New Canaan Men’s Club will hear from Stamford Hospital Cardiologist Dr. Edward Schuster, Friday April 25, when he describes how healthy lifestyle choices positively improves longevity.
The men’s club meeting will be in Morrill Hall at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge, beginning at 10 a.m. Following the business session, Dr. Schuster will speak around 10:40 a.m.
In his practice, Dr. Schuster notes that he has seen the impact a healthy lifestyle has on longevity, further borne out by the 50 percent decline in the U.S. rate of deaths from cardiac disease during his years of practice.
Being able to increase longevity, he says, through diet and exercise can extend a person’s life while promoting an enjoyable lifestyle, as well.Dr. Schuster’s residency training was at Duke University, followed by a fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. He began his cardiology practice at Stamford Hospital in 1980, as the youngest board-certified cardiologist in the nation.
Dr. Schuster encourages people to adopt healthy lifestyle choices in through posting videos, Facebook posts and speaking engagements at corporations, medical facilities, senior centers and before religious and community groups.
