Music@ New Canaan Library Celebrates the Music of Leonard Bernstein

FreeThe 100th birthday of Leonard Bernstein was noted worldwide this past August, and Music@ New Canaan Library honors the milestone with a musical performance on Tuesday, January 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Adrian Lamb Room. Join Jonathan Yates & soprano soloist Mary Petro Noonan as they celebrate Leonard Bernstein’s exceptional music. The evening will featuring songs from West Side Story, one of the many scores Bernstein was renowned for, and also highlight other composers who influenced Bernstein or were influenced by him.
Jonathan Yates is the seventh Music Director of the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra in its seventy-ninth year history. He has been a driving force in reinvigorating the relationship between the symphony and its community, and started collaborations with numerous local cultural, religious and civic organizations. He made his professional orchestral conducting debut at 23, leading the National Symphony Orchestra in a Millennium Stages Concert.
Mary Petro Noonan received a Bachelor of Music from DePaul University and a Master of Music from Yale University. Mary made her Houston Grand Opera debut in the world premiere of Harvey Milk. Mary is a winner of the Metropolitan National Council Auditions and The Bel Canto Foundation Competition.
