“NFTs: Art Collecting in the Digital Age” Presented by Professor Alex Duque Via Webinar from New Canaan Library
Thursday, December, 9, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
FreeJust as the idea of bitcoin has become somewhat familiar, NFTs – Non-Fungible Tokens – is the next virtual concept many are trying to get a grasp on. New Canaan Library welcomes Alex Duque, Assistant Professor of Computer Animation at Lynn University and 3D/visual effects artist, for a highly informative talk on all aspects of NFTs. Professor Duque will speak via live webinar on Thursday, December 9 at 7 PM EST. Please register online at newcanaanlibrary.org for Zoom sign in information.
Professor Duque will provide an overview of Non-Fungible tokens “NFT’s,” beginning with an explanation of what they actually are – including their history, creation, and evolution – and then delve into their relevance and importance in the art world and the connection between NFTs and authenticity issues. How valuable can a digital image be, versus a tangible piece of art? Incredibly valuable it turns out. Professor Duque will conclude by presenting a number of examples of how NFTs are being utilized in art, and their overall impact on the art world.
