Photography Show Opening Reception
Saturday, January, 11, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
FreeOn Saturday, Jan. 11 the Carriage Barn Art Center’s 40th annual photography show will open to the public with a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. The exhibit was juried by Stephen Wilkes, one of America’s most iconic photographers, and will feature some large-scale pieces from his “Day to Night” series of artwork.
More than 600 submissions were received and Wilkes selected works by 65 professional, amateur and student photographers. Photographs are for sale and a portion of sales benefits the Carriage Barn.
For more than 20 years Wilkes has been recognized for pushing the boundaries of what fine art and commercial photography can accomplish. “Day to Night,” is also his most recent and ambitious project, and rewrites the rules of photography by seamlessly blending 1,000 shots of the same landscape into a single photo, compressing the fourth dimension of time into a two dimensional medium.
It has also been featured on the news program on TV, “CBS Sunday Morning,” and was published by the publishing company, TASCHEN, as a monograph in 2019. In an additional event, the Carriage Barn will host Wilkes for a “Day to Night” lecture about the series, and book signing on Sunday, Jan. 26, at 3 p.m. Advance registration for this event is required.
