Silver Hill doctor speaks to Men’s Club about “epidemic of loneliness”

With loneliness an increasing concern confronting seniors, the New Canaan Men’s Club will host a presentation Friday at 10 a.m. by Dr. Jeff Katzman, director of the Silver Hill Academy of Research and Education, titled “The Impact of Loneliness on our Mental Health and Potential Interventions.”
A member of the Steering Committee of the Connecticut Collaborative on Loneliness, Dr. Katzman specializes on understanding the epidemic of loneliness from various perspectives and has worked with clinicians on the methods to encourage and develop resilience in individuals dealing with loneliness.
The Men’s Club meetings take place at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge. After the business portion of the meeting, Dr. Katzman’s presentation will begin around 10:40 a.m.
Dr. Katzman is professor emeritus at the University of New Mexico, Department of Psychiatry, adjunct professor at the Yale Dept. of Psychiatry, and is the medical director for the Project ECHO Resiliency programs.
He studied human relationships at Stanford University as an undergraduate, and went on to medical school at University of California, San Diego, before completing psychiatry residency training at the University of California, Los Angeles, Neuropsychiatric Institute.
