This week on 0684-Radi0, our free podcast (subscribe here in the iTunes Store), we talk to Janet Bouton Wood Karl. It’s the second installment of our “New Canaan Lifers” series, where we profile lifelong residents of the town.
Here are recent episodes of 0684-Radi0:
Wonderful character strong down to earth values who I’ve known as acquaintance for many years. Together with DAR, Colonial Dames & assisted her to join as associate of Society Daughters of Holland Dames. As a lap swimmer, I saw her frequently freestyle backstroke breast stroke early at NCYMCA. She is to be admired. A true representative of NC.
Thank you for your kind words Marcy.
What a charming discussion with Janet! Loved hearing about earlier times in New Canaan.
A very nice conversation!
Kudos for this podcast, Mike.
This morning I saw the Bouton sisters in Town Hall and I mentioned that Janet Bouton Wood Karl was featured in the New Canaan Lifer series.
After listening to this delightful podcast, all I can say is “Woodie” possesses a wealth of knowledge about New Canaan’s history that simply cannot be found in archives. She is a natural story teller who can lift pages from New Canaan’s past and bring them to life —a real town treasure!
I’m looking forward to hearing more “Woodie” stories!!
What a wonderful iterview with an amazing and sharp (98 years old–wow!!) woman. I loved hearing her recollections of life in early, early New Canaan and roots of her family.
Thank you for your kind words
Janet
How delightful to learn about New Canaan and what life has been like from a wonderful person who shares memories which are personal and interesting.
Thank you both…
