CONTEST: NewCanaanite.com Seeks Most Creative ‘Prom-posals’

NewCanaanite.com is happy to announce our first annual “Prom-posal” Photo Contest. Here’s how it works (see rules below):

Why: In recent years, high school students have found new and inventive ways to ask dates to the prom and posting these “prom-posals” on social media. What: NewCanaanite.com will reward the most creative NCHS proposals—one for Junior Prom, one for Senior Prom—with a $50 gift certificate that’s good at dozens of New Canaan businesses. How: Entries can be submitted to terry@newcanaanite.com — a photo or video with a short blurb about the proposal, including the names and emails (for confirmation) of the asker and “askee.” A panel convened by the New Canaanite editors will judge the best entries based on creativity, humor and originality. When: Junior Prom entries are due at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 29.

New Canaan High School ‘Post Prom’: A Primer

A Community Tradition 56 Years in the Making

Post Prom originated in 1959 as the “Dance-After-the-Dance” and has been part of the fabric of New Canaan traditions ever since. This event is a gift from the parents and the New Canaan community to the graduating New Canaan High School Senior class each year and offers a safe and fun party at which to celebrate after the Senior Prom at Waveny House in New Canaan. Senior Prom and Post Prom next year are on Friday, May 20, 2016 and parent volunteers have already started working on the 2016 Post Prom and the events leading up to it. The co-chairs for the 2016 Post Prom are Jenny LaFond and Amy Conley. All seniors, whether they attend Prom or not, are invited to attend the Post Prom festivities which include games, prizes and late night fun for all.
