RTC Announces Two Republican Debates Ahead of July 18 Caucus; First One Next Week

The New Canaan Republican Town Committee on Monday announced that the organization is sponsoring a pair of debates ahead of the party’s July 18 caucus—a widely anticipated day that will see candidates in three contested races seek party backing. Featuring all Republican candidates running in contested races for town government, the first debate is to be held at 7 p.m. next Tuesday, June 27 in the large meeting room at Town Hall, the RTC said in a press release. The second will be held July 12, also at Town Hall. Those running include:

I am exploring a run for Town Council. My family and I have been town residents for 21 years. I believe it is time for the Town Council to have a “practicing attest and forensic CPA” seated. I have been on point for a decade with my financial analysis and suggestions pertaining to best practices in accounting methodology, internal control changes and budgetary analysis as relates to Town operations. Many of my suggestions have been implemented as “Best Practice.”

I am a Certified Public Accountant, individual and firm member of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), with the firm inspected by the PCAOB and Quality Reviewed tri-annually by the AICPA-NPR (National Peer Review) pertaining to my SEC attest practice.

‘I Don’t Operate That Way’: Abramowitz Resigns as Nowacki Campaign Treasurer

Saying he was uncomfortable with the negativity, outbursts and lawsuit threats from a petitioning candidate for first selectman, the New Canaan resident and CPA who has served as treasurer for the campaign resigned from that role Monday. Roy Abramowitz said that he initially had offered his assistance to petitioning candidate Michael Nowacki “to help the guy out.”

“I’ve done and said things in the past to bring things to light and make the town better, not to sue people,” Abramowitz told NewCanaanite.com. “I don’t operate that way. It’s just not my way of carrying on. I like positive energy.
