Police last week arrested a 55-year-old Cheshire woman by warrant in connection with the crash earlier in January of a vehicle she owns.

At about 10:37 p.m. on Jan. 13, officers were dispatched to the area of Canoe Hill and Laurel Roads on a report of a single-car crash where the vehicle struck a concrete median barrier and then traveled off of Canoe Hill Road, striking a stone wall and trees, police said.

Arriving, officers couldn’t find the occupants of the vehicle, though a witness said a man and woman could be seen walking away from the scene of the crash and didn’t appear hurt, according to a police report.

Following an investigation, because officers were unable to determine who was driving the car at the time of the crash, police charged its registered owner with evading responsibility.

She turned herself in to police at 2:25 p.m. on Jan. 31. Police released the woman on $5,000 bond and scheduled her to appear Feb. 13 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
